On June 15, 2004 "Alitalia Cargo" introduced regular flights Milan-Almaty-Osaka and Shanghai-Almaty-Milan, operated on aircraft B747-200 with technical landing at Almaty airport, 6 landings per week.

Negotiations with airline representatives were held in Almaty on June 9, 2004, and, as a result, the Ground Handling Agreement on "Technical-Stop Program" was signed.
