Almaty mayor at the
central project of the airport

Today mayor of Almaty Mr. Imangali Tasmagambetov has visited Almaty
International Airport. Mr. Tasmagambetov and the mass media
representatives passed by the aerodrome territory and stayed at the
central project of the airport as follows:
- New runway;
- New international
passenger terminal building;
- New hangar for the
aircrafts maintenance service.
There were Committee chairman of the Civil Aviation of the RK Mr.
Kubayev Mukhit and Director General of the “Kazaeronavigation” Mr.
Kulnazarov Sergey at the event.
Mr. Tasmagambetov with the “ALA” JSC direction acquainted the mass
media representatives with effort had been done at the Almaty
Airport recently.
Runway:
At the Almaty International Airport the structural drawings of the
new runway had been completed; it will be certified by the third
category from the first landing course under restricted visibility
conditions. Measurement of the new runway: length is 4500 m; width
is 45 m (operating part) and 60 m (general part).
Only certain airports of the former Soviet Union have such runways
for the aircrafts (Sheremetiyevo, Domodedovo, and Borsipol).
Landing under restricted visibility conditions practically occurs in
any weather. The third category gives an opportunity to provide safe
landing at horizontal visibility less than 150m and till 20m of
vertical visibility.
Since June till October 2008 great effort was done: 167 thousand
cubic meters of concrete and 186 km of cable products were laid.
Runway lighting and drainage system for derivation of ground and
surface waters were set. All these were made at the expense of the
airport internal funds and capital formation.
Nowadays it remains only to complete the lighting assembly and to
test air traffic controlling means and GPWS.
Very complicated certification processes of the aerodrome are in
prospect - proven documentation preparation in accordance with
government regulation № 973 that was issued on 20 October, 2007. Its
name is “Certification rules and issuance of the aerodrome fitness
certification”. The whole list of documents is given in it; it is
need to represent them to the certification centre. Such centre is
the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport and
Communication.
New runway is fit to all types of aircrafts unrestricted. The only
problem is too many small airlines that fly on YAK-40, YAK-42,
AN-24, and TU-13. These aircrafts are not equipped for flying by the
third category landing. Besides, not the whole airline’s air crew is
trained to fly by the 3 category. Other planes of the leading world
carriers including home airline “Air Astana” can operate their
flights unrestricted.
New
International
Passenger
Terminal
Taking into account dynamic development of the Almaty International
Airport as hub of the Central-Asian region, direction of the airport
together with city authorities and Ministry of Transport and
Communication of the RK took a decision over realizing the building
of another passenger terminal for international flights and creating
the great infrastructure complex “Airport-City”. Thereto famous and
highly professional French design company ADPi was got to take part
in it.
The place of 35,000 m² with eight air bridges with 1500 passengers
per hour carrying capacity – 2,000,000 passengers per year will be
handed over at the first stage terminal development.
The place of 50,000 m² with additional 16 air bridges will be handed
over at the second stage development.
Thus, after completing the building passengers were represented new
terminal with dimension 85,000 m²; it will be equipped with 24 air
bridges.
Having studied history and traditions of Kazakhstan, Design Company
ADPi approached to the design very creatively and offered the
terminal shaped as five yurts (the first stage of three ones
accordingly). There are spacious lounges with great quantum satis of
as check-in desks, so border desks to avoid queues at the terminal
territory. Duty-free
territory
will
be
1600
m2.
Passengers will be offered wide range of café and restaurants, also
comfortable waiting rooms.
In future trends there will be developed infrastructural complex -
Airport City at the adjacent territory of new terminal. It will
include hotel system Marriot, conference-halls, business-centre,
ecpo-centre, shopping-centre, cinemas, apartments, and etc.
At the present construction work of the passenger terminal
foundation is held. Building frame contractor is home company
Imstalcom.
New hangar for the aircrafts maintenance service
New hangar complex of the Almaty international Airport includes two
buildings for 2-4 aircrafts with built-on office and technical
block.
Building of hangar complex consists of 2 sections, meant for the
aircrafts placing, and 3-stored office and technical block. Hangar
section is designed by conditions of simultaneous maintenance
service the one aircraft Boeing 737 - 300\400\500, or Airbus320\321
and two business class planes Gulfstream 200. To provide bringing
the aircrafts into the hangar automatic doors Megadoor are
provisioned, production of “Cargo group” (Sweden). Hangar HWD –
48,0m x 97,0 m. Office and technical block HWD - 13,5m

43,0m.
Hangar building and office and technical block carcass is made of
metal structure by individual manufacture taking into account
seismic load in ten-point area. Bearing structures of the hangars
cover are girders with 48m bay.
Foundations under the hangar building and office and technical
blocks carcass are monolithic, columnar, and individual. Continuous
footing and foundation girder with ceramic granite revetment are
used for building socle. Hangar

Parking places for aircrafts in hangar are equipped with ground
system, power supply with special currents, compressed air supply,
and up-to-date automatic fire fighting system meeting the
requirement of the world standards.
To handle the highly located elements of the aircrafts constructions
and carrying out the installation and disassembling works hangar is
equipped with cathead with 3,5 tons of carrying capacity.
Three-stored office and technical block is intended for placing the
office, domestic, and engineering rooms. Walling of the 3-stored
office and technical block is made of red complete brick 388 mm
thick with effective warming, and facade system «TRANSWALL».
Overlapping the office and technical block is made of prefabricated
reinforced concrete cavitaty slabs 6m length. Floors in the hangars
- solid reinforced concrete slab made taking into account
technological load. All elements of underground economy are made in
prefabricated solid variant. |
