Almaty International Airport meets new aircrafts

The last month Almaty International Airport has been starting to handle three new airlines, carrying out cargo services:

June 24, 2007 UPS Company opened flights by the aircraft of type MD-11, through Almaty airport on the route: Shanghai – Seoul – Almaty – Warsaw – Cologne and Shanghai – Seoul – Almaty – Cologne, with frequency of flights five times a week.

From august 29, 2007 Aeroflot Cargo started to perform regular flights by aircraft DC-10, with frequency of flights tree time a week on the route: Seoul – Almaty – Moscow. In the near future it is planning to increase of frequency of flights up to four times a week.

At last, August 30, 2007 Cargolux opened flights by aircraft B-747-400 with frequency of flights two times a week on the rout: Luxemburg – Baku – Almaty – Hong Kong.

 Opening of these flights is very important event for Almaty International Airport, which has become possible due to a long-term, preliminary work with these airlines and also rational talks carried out in the frame of Air Cargo Europe exhibition, in Munich, in June.

The present exhibition is held twice a year in the famous show Center – “Messe” and this exhibition gathers under its vaulting not only cargo carriers and representatives of airports but and logistic and dispatcher companies and also manufacturers of transport equipments. Indubitably this gives an opportunity for visitors of the exhibition to study questions concerning all technological chain of Cargo.

Almaty International Airport displayed its possibilities as an international transport nodal point of the Central Asian Region, and also individual projects:

  • a multimodal terminal;
  • an aviation technical center;
  • the construction of a new international passenger terminal and  contiguous infrastructures.

Besides companies – UPS, Aeroflot Cargo and Cargolux, authorities of Almaty airport conducted negotiations with Carriers who were potential customers. As a result of:

In autumn, 2007 Egypt Air lines – Egypt National Carrier is planning to start performing regular cargo flights by the aircraft of type A-300-600 with frequency of flights two times a week on the route: Cairo – Almaty – Beijing and Beijing – Almaty – Cairo.

Moreover, at the exhibition the talk was conducted with Hannover airport concerning performance of flights on the route: Hannover – Shanghai – Almaty by the aircraft of type B-747. The beginning of flights has been planed to September.

As well the talk were negotiated with such companies as CargoItalia, China Southern, Malaysia Airlines, Great Wall Airlines, Martinair, Martinair, Czech Airlines, Silk Way, Atlant-Soyuz, Thai Airlines, Air France Cargo, Air Canada and etc., regarding possible cooperation. We hope to have an effective cooperation with these companies in the future.

In that way Almaty International Airport presented suitably not only the Republic of Kazakhstan but and increased a list of its partners and also economic profit for its company and for the government on the whole.
