Almaty
International Airport has taken participation in “Air Cargo China”
that took place in Shanghai from 17 to 19 June, 2008. There were the
representatives of the greatest cargo carriers besides airports as
well as logistic and shipping companies at this exhibition.
Almaty Airport
represented its stand by means of which it demonstrated
opportunities of international hub oriented for bringing in main
cargo and passenger traffic between Asia and Europe.
Almaty
International Airport has a number of advantages for further
development as a hub:

maintenance base for all types of aircraft handling, providing
line and base technical maintenance of most of operated types of
aircraft, as well as certified professional staff;

the Almaty Airport management have carried on a number of
negotiations with potential clients-air carriers at the exhibition:
Air Atlanta
Icelandic, Air Bridge Cargo, Cargoitalia, Ethiopian Airlines,
Emirates Sky Cargo, Jade Cargo International Southern Air Inc.,
Sino First International Holdings Ltd., Thai Airways International
, World Airways Cargo. All these airlines are interested in
advantage to perform their flights via Almaty International Airport
and develop ways of cooperation in the nearest future.
As a hole
popularity of the Almaty International Airport is rising steadily
among dominant world air carriers. Present the year 2008 is very
rich in launching the new passenger and cargo flights.
In April Latvian
“Air Baltic” airline has launched the direct flight from Riga to
Almaty.
The “Aerosvit”
Ukrainian airline has also launched its direct flight from Almaty to
Kiev on 26 April.
Czech National
airlines “Czech Airlines” have performed the first direct passenger
flight by the route Almaty-Prague-Almaty on 1 May.
It is possible to
travel from Almaty to Sochi by aircrafts of “Aeroflot” airline this
year.
Foreign air
carriers which aircrafts already perform the flights via Almaty are
enlarging their presence in the Kazakhstan market. For instance
“Cargolux” has increased number of its cargo flights from 3 to 5
times per week as of 5 March.
Thus Almaty
International Airport has great development prospects as passenger
and cargo hub. |
