On May 7, 2010, the holiday event dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at Almaty International Airport. At 11.00 a.m. there was a solemn laying of flowers by the Memorial Obelisk of Glory in the Ogarev Street.

 The event was opened by representatives of the Turksib district akimat, management of Almaty International Airport, and chairman of Council of Veterans. Pupils of school-gymnasium #44 solemnly met veterans with flowers by the obelisk. The veterans, who met the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory, with great wish, trepidation, and tears in their eyes remembered the war hard times. There were a banquet and a concert program at culture centre of Almaty International Airport at 12.00 p.m. organized in honour of veterans of the Great Patriotic War and veterans of labour front. Management of Almaty International Airport prepared the warmest congratulations and presented memorable gifts to every veteran.
By the Victory Day the Aviation in the Great Patriotic War Years photography exhibition was held on the second floor of passenger terminal. The exhibition is dedicated to our countrymen - pilots who courageously fought and defended our homeland. Invaluable photographs were collected from archival museum funds of our city, and certainly the photographs, kept to our time with our great soldiers personifying the image of the Second World War winners of an unbending spirit, are of great value. Every soldier had own history, long and thorny way, but purpose of Victory was the only one! Thanks to their bravery and courage now we have blue sky above us, quite and happy future and present. We pay obeisance and make bow low to you, dear veterans!
