Almaty airport obtained the European Aviation Safety Agency Certificate

On New Year’s Eve, Almaty International Airport obtained a certificate of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for line maintenance of
Boeing 747-400 and Airbus À318/À319/À320/À321. Maintenance shop ALA Technics of the Aviation Engineering Service of the Almaty International
airport passed the certification process as per EASA standard Part 145, after that the certificate # EASA.145.0564 was issued.
The certificate enables airport specialists to perform line maintenance of aircraft registered in Europe, including service maintenance,
external inspection of aircraft, defect elimination, and unit replacement as well. Earlier the airport had the right to perform service
maintenance of Boeing 747-400 and Airbus À318/À319/À320/À321 only, including aircraft marshalling, adjustment of chocks, filling of water
systems, internal cleaning of cabins, and aircraft deicing operations during winter periods. If there was a need to eliminate any malfunction
of aircraft, airlines had to involve their own specialists, which led to long delays and financial losses, or they had to have technical staff
on board, which was unprofitable for any airline.
Currently such services for the said types of aircraft can be rendered by maintenance
personnel of the airport’s aviation engineering service. Availability of the certificate is a basis for line maintenance of Europe-registered
aircraft Â747-400, À318/319/320 that means the Aviation Engineering Service is able to perform transit maintenance of the abovementioned
aircraft for airlines operating scheduled and charter flights to Almay airport.
It should be noted that approximately 90% of all-cargo operations to Almaty International Airport are now performed on Boeing 747-400 and Airbus
À318/À319/À320/À321.
Almaty Airport obtained this certificate for the first time and none of the airports in Kazakhstan has such certificate.

During the 2011, three specialists of Almaty airport’s aviation engineering service obtained A&P licenses from Federal Aviation
Administration of USA enabling to perform handling of US-registered aircraft, and today they handle FedEx aircraft. At this stage
negotiations are conducted with UPS and Evergreen with regard to handling of their aircraft.
