The 32nd session of the Council on Aviation and Air Space Use of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) was held on February 17, 2012 in Moscow, where Almaty airport’s airdrome was named the best airdrome.

Aviators from all over the former Soviet Union arrived to Moscow to visit the 32nd session of the IAC’s Council. The session was not simple as the Interstate Aviation Committee celebrated its 20th Anniversary last year. Therefore the executives of the IAC decided to present awards for high achievements in development of civil aviation, flight safety, development of international airdrome network, air traffic management, manufacturing of up-to-date aviation equipments, aviation personnel trainings, and implementation of new maintenance methods.
It is worthy of note that among tens of nominees Almaty International Airport was acknowledged the best airdrome “For achievements in development of international (categorized) airdromes”.
Tatiana Grigoriyevna Anodina, a director of the IAC, presenting the Certificate made a point that achievement of Almaty airdrome was the most outstanding one among all six nominations “as it implemented the category III B. No one airport in the CIS has such category”, Tatiana Grigoriyevna said, – “even in Russia”.
Pulkovo airdrome (Russia) and Borispol airdrome (Ukraine) were also marked in this nomination.
